ADVANCING GOD'S KINGDOM | SHARING GOD'S LOVE | BUILDING GOD'S CHURCH |
LET THE WHOLE WORLD KNOW
If you don't know how to pray, or you would like to broaden your understanding of prayer, feel free to check out all the different ways you can pray. Please keep in mind, this is not an exhaustive list; rather, a guide to help enhance your time with God. Don't forget, prayer is communication with God. As long as what you tell Him comes from your heart and you take the time to listen , you cannot pray wrong.
Invocation
The intentional reminder and acknowledgment of whom God is, and the awareness of His divine presence; welcoming Him into our lives.
Petition
Asking God - in faith and accordance to His will - for the things we need, not merely want. This requires the realization of one's dependance upon God.
Supplication
Humbly requesting mercy, wisdom, direction, deliverance, or anything of an upmost urgency, with a broken and contrite spirit.
Thanksgiving
Giving gratitude to Jesus, whom is worthy and credit is due.
Consecration
Make or declare someone or something holy [set apart] with divine purpose and service unto the work of God, for advancing His Kingdom.
Dedication
Asking God's will in one's life, especially when direction seems to be unclear and alternate options appear to be legitimate.
Fasting
Willful denial of self, for a period of time, for the purpose of developing a closer intimate with Jesus [Time with God must be in lieu of what you are denying for it to be a fast. Otherwise, you are merely neglecting whatever activity.]
Confession
An honest inventory of self and the acknowledgement of one's sin to God, with sincerity of heart to request forgiveness and repentance [eradication of sin, not excuse for it.]
Intercession
Lifting the needs of others unto God, both for help and special blessing.
Leading of the Spirit
When we do not know what or how to pray, we allow the Spirit of God to intercede for us, with groans that words cannot express.
Spiritual Warfare
Binding strongholds of the devil and loosing the power of God, under the authority of Jesus, and not of our own desires. [This is not for the faint of heart; rather, the warrior of God.]
Benediction
A closing prayer, typically the acknowledgement of a spiritual direction, guidance, or divine revelation, with a heart of gratitude.
